Do's

  • Acclimatize yourself, Drink plenty of fluids.
  • Travel as lite as possible, carry comfortable footwear.
  • Practice your expectations to match with limitations as the J&K region has its own limitations like lack of water and other resources.
  • Ensure to carry all necessary medications if you are on prescription.
  • Instead relying on ATMs carry more cash.
  • Carry all necessary identifications documents and permits with multiple photocopies.
  • Carry sunscreen (At least SPF 30) & sunglasses.
  • Respect your pristine & Serene surroundings.

Dont's

  • Don't rush to arrive at your destinations, the roads can be a feast to eyes at several instances (Courtesy - BRO).
  • Avoid consuming alcohol as higher altitude escalates getting sick faster than usual.
  • Be patient and skip the argument where groups indulge in clashes on pity issues.
  • Do not ignore any signs of discomfort or symptoms of AMS like dizziness, Nausea, headaches & Irritability.
  • Avoid plastic bags and plastic bottles, it's good to refill your bottle than buying a new one.

  • Do not touch statues or frescoes in monasteries or heritage sites and avoid smoking in & around the premises.
