Day-to-day itinerary:
Day 1: Guwahati Arrival - Transfer to Tezpur (180 km / 4.5 hrs)
Upon arrival in Guwahati, our representative will meet and assist you at the airport. We will then proceed to Tezpur. Check in to your resort and enjoy the evening at your leisure. Overnight stay will be at Tezpur.
Day 2: Tezpur to Dirang with Orchid Research Centre at Tipi and Sangti Valley
After breakfast, we'll embark on a scenic drive from Tezpur to Dirang. The journey from Tezpur to Tipi Orchid Research Centre takes approximately 1-2 hours, covering a distance of about 45 kilometers. Explore the Orchid Research Centre and marvel at its diverse collection of orchids.
Continuing our journey, we'll drive from Tipi to Dirang, which takes approximately 3-4 hours, covering a distance of about 110 kilometers. Upon reaching Dirang, we'll check into our accommodation.
In the evening, we'll visit the picturesque Sangti Valley, known for its breathtaking landscapes. Enjoy the serene atmosphere and capture the beauty of the surroundings.
After a fulfilling day, return to your accommodation in Dirang for a comfortable overnight stay.
Day 3: Dirang to Tawang with War Cemetery, Jaswant Garh War Memorial, and Nuranang Falls
After breakfast, we'll depart from Dirang and embark on a scenic journey towards Tawang. The drive from Dirang to Tawang takes approximately 5-6 hours, covering a distance of about 140 kilometers.
Along the way, we'll visit the War Cemetery, a solemn site dedicated to the brave soldiers who sacrificed their lives during World War II. Take a moment to pay your respects and reflect on the sacrifices made.
Continuing our journey, we'll make a stop at the Jaswant Garh War Memorial, honoring the courage and bravery of Jaswant Singh, an Indian soldier who valiantly fought during the Indo-China War. Learn about his remarkable story and the history of the region.
Next, we'll visit the majestic Nuranang Falls, also known as the Jang Falls. Witness the cascading waters as they plunge down amidst lush greenery, creating a picturesque scene.
Finally, we'll arrive in Tawang and check into our accommodation. Enjoy the evening at your leisure, exploring the local surroundings and soaking in the beauty of Tawang.
Day 4: Tawang Sightseeing - Tawang Monastery (Namgey Lhatse), Singsor Ani Gompa, Gorsam Chorten, and Tawang War Memorial
After breakfast, we'll embark on a captivating sightseeing tour of Tawang's cultural and historical treasures.
Our first stop will be the renowned Tawang Monastery, also known as Namgey Lhatse. Marvel at its grandeur and explore the various sections, including the assembly hall, library, and monk quarters. Immerse yourself in the spiritual ambiance and learn about the rich Buddhist heritage.
Next, we'll visit Singsor Ani Gompa, a peaceful nunnery where you can witness the daily life of Buddhist nuns. Absorb the serene atmosphere and admire the intricate Buddhist artworks and scriptures.
Continuing our journey, we'll visit the iconic Gorsam Chorten, a magnificent stupa perched on a hilltop. Take in the panoramic views of the surrounding valleys and pay homage to the sacred monument.
Lastly, we'll visit the Tawang War Memorial, a poignant tribute to the soldiers who sacrificed their lives during the Indo-China War. Explore the memorial's museum and pay homage at the memorial site, offering a moment of reflection and gratitude.
After a day filled with cultural and historical exploration, we'll return to our accommodation in Tawang for a comfortable overnight stay.
Day 5: Tawang Sightseeing - Bumla Pass and Madhuri Lake
After breakfast, we'll continue our Tawang sightseeing tour with two remarkable attractions.
Our first destination is Bumla Pass, located at an altitude of approximately 16,500 feet. Situated on the Indo-China border, Bumla Pass offers awe-inspiring views of the surrounding Himalayan peaks. Take in the pristine beauty of the snow-capped mountains and enjoy the cool mountain air.
Next, we'll visit the enchanting Madhuri Lake, famously known as Shonga-Tser Lake. This breathtaking natural wonder boasts crystal-clear turquoise waters surrounded by snow-capped mountains. Capture the mesmerizing beauty of the lake and immerse yourself in its serene ambiance.
We'll return to our accommodation in Tawang. Enjoy a comfortable overnight stay, reflecting on the wonders of Tawang.
Note - You will have to hire a local taxi in Tawang on a direct payment basis of Rs. 6000 per vehicle as only the local union cabs are allowed in this restricted region.
Day 06: Tawang– Dirang Transfer
Depart from Tawang in the morning. Witness majestic Sela Pass en route. Arrive in Dirang by late afternoon. Rest and rejuvenate.
Day 07: Dirang to Kaziranga Transfer - Exploring Assam's Wild Beauty
Depart from Dirang in the morning. Journey through scenic landscapes and charming villages. Arrive in Kaziranga by afternoon, covering 240 km in 6-7 hours. Check into accommodation. Relax and prepare for the thrilling wildlife encounters at Kaziranga National Park.
Day 08: A Day in Kaziranga National Park
Morning: As the sun peeks over the horizon, you begin your day with an extraordinary elephant safari. Climbing atop these gentle giants, you venture deep into the heart of Kaziranga. Keep your eyes peeled for the magnificent one-horned rhinoceros grazing peacefully or the elusive tigers prowling amidst the verdant surroundings.
Afternoon: After a short break for lunch, you continue your exploration of Kaziranga, this time on a jeep safari. Buckled in the open vehicle, you embark on a thrilling adventure through the park's diverse terrain. The afternoon light casts a magical glow over the surroundings, enhancing the beauty of the wildlife sanctuary.
Day 09: Kaziranga to Shillong Journey
Embarking on a scenic journey from Kaziranga to Shillong, you'll traverse approximately 270 kilometers in about 6-7 hours. Witness breathtaking tea estates and rolling hills along the way. Arrive in vibrant Shillong, known as the "Scotland of the East," and immerse yourself in its captivating beauty.
Day 10: A Day's Excursion from Shillong to Cherrapunji
Embark on a scenic 54-kilometer (34-mile) drive from Shillong to Cherrapunji, taking around 1.5-2 hours. Witness the captivating Seven Sisters Falls and mighty Nohkalikai Falls. Explore the mysterious Mawsmai Caves, adorned with stunning stalactites and stalagmites. Conclude at Mawlynnong Village's living root bridges, marveling at nature's architectural wonders. Reflect on the day's adventures while journeying back to Shillong, cherishing the memories made.
Day 11: A Day's Excursion from Shillong to Dawki and Mawlynnong
Embark on a captivating journey from Shillong to Dawki, spanning approximately 80 kilometers (50 miles) and taking around 2-3 hours. Admire the crystal-clear waters of the Umngot River in Dawki, offering a surreal boating experience. Continue to Mawlynnong, the "Cleanest Village in Asia," known for its pristine surroundings and living root bridges. Explore the village, marvel at the natural beauty, and embrace the serenity of these remarkable destinations.
Day 12: Shillong to Guwahati Airport: Departure (120 km / 4 hrs)
