Tour Itinerary:

Day 1: Haridwar / Dehradun / Rishikesh – Barkot (200kms/7-8hr)

  • Morning: Meet our representative at your Hotel / Airport / Railway Station. After some basic information, start your journey to Barkot.

  • On the way: Visit Mussoorie Mall Road and Kempty Falls.

  • Later: Drive to Barkot. Check into the hotel upon arrival in Barkot. Overnight stay at Barkot.

Barkot Weather:

  • Summer: Generally pleasant, temperature ranges from 25-30°C.

  • Winter: Days are pleasantly cool, but nights are cold, with temperatures ranging from 10°C to 5°C.


Day 2: Barkot – Yamunotri – Barkot (36kms drive & 6kms trek one way)

  • Early morning after breakfast, drive to Jankichatti / Phoolchatti.

  • Start your trek from here to Yamunotri (6kms) (Either by walk, horse, or Doli at your own cost).

  • After arrival at Yamunotri, take a bath in the warm waters of Surya Kund (Hot Spring).

  • Enjoy Darshan of "Yamunaji".

  • Return trek to Jankichatti. Later drive towards Barkot. Overnight stay at Barkot.

Yamunotri Temple:

  • Maharani Gularia of Jaipur built the temple in the 19th Century. It was destroyed twice in the present century and rebuilt again.

  • At Yamunotri, one can cook rice by packing it in a cloth and dipping it in the hot water of the Tapt Kund. Pilgrims take this cooked rice home as "Prasad".

  • Near the temple, "Pooja" can be offered to Divya Shila.

Surya Kund:

  • There are a number of thermal springs near the temple, which flow into numerous pools. The most important of these is Surya Kund.

Divya Shila:

  • A rock pillar worshipped before entering the Yamunotri Temple.

Yamunotri Weather:

  • Summer: Maximum temperature is 18°C, and the minimum is 10°C. Days are pleasantly cool, but nights are cold.


Day 3: Barkot – Uttarkashi (100kms/4hr)

  • Morning after breakfast, relax for a while. Later drive to Uttarkashi.

  • Visit Shivgufa on the way to Uttarkashi.

  • In Uttarkashi, visit Kashi Vishwanath Temple.

  • After that, check into the hotel. Day free for rest. Overnight stay at Uttarkashi.

Uttarkashi:

  • Home to a number of ashrams & temples. Due to its similarity to Kashi (Varanasi), it is known as Kashi of the North (Means Uttar-kashi).

  • Similar to Varanasi, the town of Uttarkashi is also situated on the banks of the River Ganga.

Shivgufa:

  • A small temple at Shivkhori between Barkot & Uttarkashi. It is widely visited by tourists while driving to Uttarkashi.

Vishwanath Temple:

  • One of the oldest Shiva temples in Northern India. Re-constructed in 1857 by Maharani Khaneti Devi of Tehri State in the ancient architectural style.

  • Situated at the heart of the town. A massive iron trident, symbol of the divine mother, is erected and worshipped from ancient times at the temple complex.

  • Ganeshji, Sakshi Gopal, Akhand Jyoti & Markandeya Rishi’s small shrines are also part of the temple complex.

  • Special Aarti & Abhishek is done every day morning and evening.

  • As per Skund Puran, Uttarkashi is known as ‘Saumya Varanasi’, the abode of Lord Shiva in Kaliyug.

Shakti Temple:

  • Right in front of the Vishwanath temple is Shakti temple. It has a big trident (Trishul) about 6 meters in height and a circumference of 90 cm at the bottom.

  • Though there are different materials for making this trident, the upper part of it seems to be made up of iron, and the lower one is of copper.

  • As per religious belief, this trident was thrown by Shakti (Durga) on the devils, hence it gets its name.

Uttarkashi Weather:

  • Generally hot in summer, with temperatures ranging from 30-35°C, but nights are pleasant. Cold in winters.


Day 4: Uttarkashi – Gangotri – Uttarkashi (100kms/3-4hr each side)

  • Early morning after breakfast, drive to Gangotri.

  • On the way, visit Gangnani Hot Spring. Take a holy dip in Kund.

  • Later drive to Gangotri via the beautiful Harsil valley. Harsil is famous for its natural beauty and majestic views of the Himalayan Mountains.

  • On arrival at Gangotri, take a holy dip in the sacred river Ganges, which is also called Bhagirathi at its origin.

  • Perform Pooja and Darshan, after that relax for some time in the lovely surroundings.

  • Later return drive to Uttarkashi. Overnight stay at Uttarkashi.

Gangotri Temple:

  • The temple was constructed by the Gorkha General Amar Singh Thapa in the 18th Century and is situated on the right bank of Bhagirathi.

Gangotri Weather:

  • The maximum temperature during summer can go up to 20°C. Summer nights can get cooler with a minimum temperature of 10°C. Light woolen clothes are required while visiting Gangotri during summer.

  • Winter season is very chilly in Gangotri. Gangotri will be covered in sheets of snow during winter. Pilgrim centers remain closed throughout winter due to heavy snowfall.


Day 5: Uttarkashi – Guptkashi (220kms/8-9hr)

  • Morning after breakfast, drive to Guptkashi via Moolgarh & Lambgoan.

  • Enroute, you can see the beautiful river Mandakini at Tilwara. The Mandakini River comes from Kedarnath.

  • Drive alongside the river to reach Guptkashi. Visit Ardh Narishwar Temple in Guptkashi.

  • Check into the hotel upon arrival in Guptkashi. Overnight stay at Guptkashi.

Guptkashi:

  • The name Gupt Kashi means "Hidden Benares". According to mythology, when the Pandava brothers were searching for Lord Shiva, Shiva first concealed himself at Guptkashi. Later, from there, he went further up to the valley of Kedarnath, where the Pandavas finally got their wish fulfilled.

  • Kedarnath pandits (priests) live in Guptkashi during the winter months. After the Kedarnath temple closes for the winter, the image of Kedarnath passes through Gupt Kashi on its way to Ukhimath (across the valley), where it stays for the winter.

Guptkashi Weather:

  • Pleasant in summer, with temperatures ranging from 25-30°C. Cold in winters.


Day 6: Guptkashi – Kedarnath (30kms by road & 14kms trek one way) Height: 3384 MTS.

  • Morning after breakfast, today we will go to Kedarnath. To reach Kedarnath, you will have two options:

    1. By Helicopter:

      • Morning: Our driver will transfer you to your Helipad location (Phata, Guptkashi, Sirsi, etc.) as per helicopter ticket time.

      • Kindly inform the driver of the timings of the helicopter mentioned on the ticket the previous day.

      • Different aviation services have different locations for their helicopter service.

      • Our driver will provide you with pick-up and drop-off to the hotel.

      • Advance booking is highly recommended for the helicopter.

    2. By Trek:

      • To reach Kedarnath by trekking, first, you have to reach Gaurikund.

      • We will drive to Sonprayag early in the morning after breakfast.

      • Our car will drop you at Sonprayag. From Sonprayag, a 5 km drive to Gaurikund is available via local jeep (sharing basis, at your own cost).

      • Gaurikund to Kedarnath is a further 14 km trek.

  • After reaching Kedarnath, visit Kedarnath Temple. Check into the hotel/ashram. Visit Shankaracharya Samadhi. Overnight stay at Kedarnath.

Kedarnath:

  • The Kedarnath shrine, one of the 12 Jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva, is a scenic spot situated against the backdrop of the majestic Kedarnath range.

  • Kedar is another name of Lord Shiva. According to legend, the Pandavas, after having won over the Kauravas in the Kurukshetra war, felt guilty of having killed their own brothers and sought the blessings of Lord Shiva for redemption.

  • He eluded them repeatedly and, while fleeing, took refuge at Kedarnath in the form of a bull. On being followed, he dived into the ground, leaving his hump on the surface.

  • The remaining portions of Lord Shiva appeared at four other places and are worshipped there as his manifestations:

    • Arms appeared at Tungnath.

    • Face appeared at Rudranath.

    • Belly appeared at Madhmaheshwar.

    • Locks (hair) with head appeared at Kalpeshwar.

  • Kedarnath and the four above-mentioned shrines are treated as Panch Kedar.

Kedarnath Weather:

  • Due to its high altitude, the weather in Kedarnath remains cold for most of the year.

  • Summer is cool and pleasant, while winter is severe.

  • During summer, the temperature varies around 20°C. Light woolen wear is recommended.

  • Winter season in Kedarnath is severe, with temperatures falling to as low as 0°C. During this time, the place experiences snowfall as well. Due to extreme climatic conditions, this time is usually avoided by tourists.


Day 7: Kedarnath – Guptkashi (14kms trek & 30kms drive)

  • Morning after breakfast, explore nearby areas by walk at Kedarnath.

  • Later, reach Guptkashi as per your choice by trek or Helicopter.

By Helicopter:

  • Inform the driver when you leave for Kedarnath about your approximate return time and helipad name according to the ticket.

  • Our driver will pick you up from the helipad and transfer you to your hotel.

By Trek:

  • Inform the driver of your approximate return time.

  • Once you reach Gaurikund from Kedarnath by trek, you can take a local jeep till Sonprayag.

  • Our driver will meet you there. Due to parking issues, keep the driver’s contact number with you and call him when you reach Sonprayag so he can pick you up.

  • Gaurikund to Sonprayag local jeep is at your own cost.

  • Get packed breakfast from the hotel to start early.

  • Horse / Pony / Palakhi is also available for trekking at Gaurikund. Guests can book that at their own cost.

  • At arrival, check into the hotel in Guptkashi. Overnight stay at Guptkashi.


Day 8: Guptkashi – Badrinath (190kms/7-8hr)

  • Morning after breakfast, drive to Badrinath. Check into the hotel upon arrival in Badrinath.

  • Pilgrims, after having a bath in the Tapt Kund, have the Darshan of Badrivishal & Aarti in the evening.

  • Brahamakapal is significant for Pinddan - Shraddh of ancestors (Pitrus).

  • There are other interesting sightseeing spots like Mana, Vyas Gufa, Maatamoorti, Charanpaduka, Bhimkund, and the "Mukh of the Saraswati River” within three km of Badrinath.

  • Overnight stay at Badrinath.

Badrinath:

  • One of the 'Ancient Four Dhams', Badrinath is one of the most celebrated pilgrimage spots in the country and is situated at an elevation of 3,133 meters.

  • It is guarded on either side by the two mountain ranges known as Nar & Narayan, with the towering Neelkanth Peak providing a splendid backdrop.

  • This revered spot was once carpeted with wild berries. Thus, the place got the name "Badri van", meaning "forest of berries".

Tapt Kund:

  • Natural thermal springs on the bank of the river Alaknanda, where it is customary to bathe before entering the Badrinath temple.

Mana Village:

  • Inhabited by an Indo-Mongolian tribe, it is the last Indian village before Tibet.

Vasundhara:

  • A magnificent waterfall located 5 km from Badrinath, out of which 2 km is by road up to Mana.

Bhim Pul:

  • On the other side of Mana village, a massive rock forming a natural bridge lies over the roaring Saraswati River. It presents a spectacular view of water thundering down through the narrow passage under the rock and is believed to have been placed there by Bhim, the second eldest among the five Pandava brothers.

Vyas Gufa (Cave):

  • Near Mana Village, this is a rock-cave where Ved Vyas is believed to have composed the Mahabharata and the Puranic commentaries.

Badrinath Weather:

  • The average maximum temperature will be around 18°C, and the average minimum is 8°C. Warm and woolen clothes are required for a stay in Badrinath throughout the year.

  • Winter in Badrinath is often accompanied by snowfall. Winter is very chilly, with an average temperature of 5°C. Due to extreme climatic conditions, this time is usually closed for tourists.


Day 9: Badrinath – Joshimath – Rudraprayag (160kms/7hr) Height: 895 MTS.

  • Morning: Enjoy breakfast, then drive to Rudraprayag via Joshimath.

  • Visit on the way: Darshan of Vishnu Prayag, Narsingh Temple in Joshimath, Karn Prayag, and Nand Prayag.

  • Check into the hotel upon arrival in Rudraprayag. Overnight stay at Rudraprayag.

Joshimath:

  • Situated on the slopes above the confluence of the rivers Alaknanda and Dhauliganga.

  • One of the four 'Maths' established by Adi Shankaracharya, Joshimath is the winter seat of Badrinath. The idol is brought down to Joshimath and installed in the temple for people to worship.

  • There are many other temples in the township. The most important is the temple of Nar Singh with the idol of Lord Vishnu.

Rudraprayag:

  • One of the Panch Prayag (five confluences) of the Alaknanda River. It is the confluence of rivers Alaknanda and Mandakini.

  • Kedarnath, a Hindu holy town, is located 86 km from Rudraprayag.

Rudraprayag Weather:

  • Generally hot in summer, with temperatures ranging from 35-40°C.

  • Winter: Days are pleasantly cool, but nights are cold, with temperatures ranging from 20°C to 5°C.


Day 10: Rudraprayag – Haridwar / Dehradun / Rishikesh (165kms/5-6hrs)

  • Morning after breakfast, drive to Haridwar / Dehradun / Rishikesh.

  • Rishikesh, 'the place of sages', is a celebrated spiritual town on the bank of the Ganga. It is surrounded by the Shivalik range of the Himalayas on three sides.

  • It is said that when Raibhya Rishi did hard penances, God appeared by the name of "Hrishikesh", and this area henceforth came to be known as Rishikesh.

  • Later, visit Laxman Jhula and Ram Jhula in Rishikesh.

  • Drop off at the Hotel / Airport / Railway Station.
